Maths Mate Term 1 Sheet 8

Predict: I predict it is going to be about problem solving, addition and subtraction.

Read: A  gambler begins with $21. In the first minute he loses $5. In the next minute he wins $3. How long does it take him to lose his $21 if he continues losing and winning in this way.

Clarify: I have nothing to clarify.

Big Question: How long does it take him to lose his $21 if he keeps losing and winning in this way.

Mathematicians Toolbox: Guess, check and improve.

Solve: I started with 211 dollars and took away 5 dollars then added 3 dollars to get 19. then I had 19 and took away 5 dollars and added 3 dollars to get 17 dollars. I then had 17 dollars I then took away 5 dollars and added 3 dollars to get 15 dollars. I then took away 5 dollars and  added 3 dollars to get 13 dollars.I then took away 5 dollars and added 3 dollars to get 11 dollars. I then took away 5 and added three to get nine. I then took away 5 and added 3 to get seven. I then took away 5 and added 3 to get 5. I then took away 5 and added 3 to get 3. I then had to go into decimals and to away 5 to get -2 and added 3 to get one so up all together it took the gambler 21 minutes to get rid of  his money.

Summary: I was an easy task to complete and I found it hard to write it on my blog!

Maths Mate Term 1 Sheet 7

Math's Mate t=1 s=7

Predict: I predict it is going to be about problem solving, addition and subtraction.

Read: Fill in the missing numbers to produce correct equation in every row and column.

Clarify: I have nothing to clarify.

Big Question: Fill in the missing numbers to produce correct equations.

Mathematicians Toolbox: Guess, Check and improve.

Solve: I started at the top left corner and went across, something plus 10 equals something .So I added 80 to get :80 + 10 = 90. I then went down from the right hand corner down. It was pretty easy because I just needed to check to make sure the equation was right. 90 – 10 = 80 which is right! I then went from the left bottom hand corner it was : Something plus something equals eighty. I figured if I added 30 to 50 I would get 80 so it was: 30 + 50 = 80. I went from the left top hand corner down. It was easy because I just needed to check I was right. 80 – 50 = 30 which is right! I then had to do the two middle ones. I did the one at the top, 10 plus something equals something I then thought if I add 10 to 40 it would equal 50.     10 + 40 = 50!  It was the last one on the left hand side to the right hand side in the middle. The answer was already there so all I did was checked it: 50 – 40 = 10 which is correct!

Summary: It was an easy task to complete it wasn’t tricking I got throughout it quit fast to!

Different Types of Government!

There are lots of types of governments  around the world. There is Democracy, Anarchy, Communism, Dictatorship or Autocracy, Federal Government, Monarchy,Republic and Totalitarian.

Democracy means that citizen are old enough that can elect there government and have there choice.Republic means that they have an elected president and have there choice but don’t have a monarchy. Monarchy means the government has most of control and the power of there king or queen is limited. A federal government shares power with a number of small governments share the responsibilities.

Anarchy means there it is in a situation when there is no government and no rules. Communism means the government plans and controls the economy owning businesses and farms. Dictator or Autocracy means there is a single leader but he or her was not elected and the leader may use force to keep control. And the last one is Totalitarian means there is only one political party people are forced to do what the government tells them to do. So there are all the different types of government, and if you haven’t already noticed we have a federal government and Democracy!

Australian Federal Parliament Representation!

 House of Representatives!

Distribution by State or Territory!

Federal Parliament Graph No. 2 Luca, Finn and Ruby

Over the past few days we have been doing activities based on Direct and Indirect representation in Australia’s Politics and about the three levels of government. The three levels of government are Federal, State and Local! Federal take care of National issues and National Parks! State taking care of transport and Local taking care of local parks and local libraries.

After that we went into a group of 5 and had to choose a place to eat and everyone had to agree. Then all of us in the class had to choose a place to go for a excursion and had to agree! It took us around 15 mins to decide on a place to go!Because we didn’t really decide we choose a representative from our group to go up and give our suggestions and it was way easier to decide where we would go for a excursion!

Then the next task was to go into a group of 3 and fill out a sheet and choose a state! Our group chose W.A. and had to find out the number of members from each houses of our state , and the numbers of electors from each state! After we put all of our note taking in these two charts one up the top that is the house of representations. And the one below is the house of Senate.
