Predict: I predict it is going to be about addition and multiplication.

Read: I think of a number, double it and then add 4. If the result is 20,what was the original number?

Big Question: What was the original number?

Mathematicians Toolbox: Have I seen a similar problem?

Solve: First I thought what number could be doubled then add 4 to get 20 it was pretty obvious that the original number is 8.

Summary: It was really quite easy knowing addition and multiplication.

3 Recalls: I recall that in Canberra they are thinking about our native animals and caging cats so they can’t run free. Also that cats are the second most popular pet. Also that the most popular pet is dogs.

2 Understandings: I understand that Canberra is not the only city. I understand that some animals that cats kill are endangered.

100 Word Challenge Week # 9

I walked down the street to see broken glass every where. The houses where all so dull there garden’s where no longer green but a dark shady grey. The rain pattered on the street leaving puddles everywhere. Looking closely to a puddle you could see ants swimming  some drowning while others staying afloat. But not for long as the rain started to get heavier. I turned around to see a black cat sitting on a wall. But before I could get any closer it ran away. I lifted  the latch to my front garden and there was the black cat.

100 Word Challenge Week#8

The legend of the black cape was big in Spring Ville. Many people believed they saw it but in wasn’t until April 7th it was confirmed the black cape was real. The child wondered what would happen if he came face to face with it? What would he see? What would he do? The boy came to a stop as he saw a sign on a tree. It said to be aware and to keep an eye out.

He turned around where he saw something… It was the black cape. He turned to run but all he could see was black.

Behind The News: Outdoor Class

3 Recalls: I recall that the 3 bad things that the students said about the outdoor class is that: It was really windy, It was really hot and that they had to hand write everything down.

2 Understandings: I understand that in a classroom you use a lot of electricity. I also understand it is really hot in Alice Springs so their air conditioning was in important.

Predict: I predict it is going to be about a subtraction, addition and multiplication

Read: I think of a number, add 9 and then multiply by 3. If the result is 30, what was the original number?

Clarify: None

Big Question: What was the original number?

Mathematicians Toolbox: Have I seen a similar problem?

Solve: First I first I thought of a number that has to be multiplied by 3 to get 30. It was ten, and 9 + 1 = 10 so the original number was 1.

Summary: It was really quite easy and knowing my 3 time tables helped.

Predict: I predict it is going to be about a subtraction, addition and subtraction.

Read: I think of a number, subtract 5 and then divide by 3. If the result is 6, what was the original number

Clarify: None

Big Question: What was the original number?

Mathematicians Toolbox: Have I seen a similar problem?

Solve: First I went through my 6 times tables and worked out that a number divided by 3 to equal 6 was 18. And then I added on 5 to get my answer 23.

Summary: It was really quite easy and knowing my six times tables really helped.

BTN: Mental Health Week

3 Recalls: I recall that stress can happen any ,time anywhere. Also that as you get older you brain works out the problem solving strategies that work for you. And that not only do people at school get bullied people on the internet too.

2 Understandings: I understand that you should never be a by stander. I also understand if you are a by stander you should tell an adult.

1 Question: Why do people depend on their appearance?

Ew, I could not believe the smell of my brothers science project. Seriously, he chose an active volcano but for some weird reason it stinks like rotten tomatoes.

“Darling, time to go dress shopping for your prom!” Yelled her mum.

“Coming” She yelled back.

On the way to the dress shop the stench was in the car. She turned to see the project which was in the boot, but it still smelt like rotten tomatoes. Finally they saw the dress shop she walked in and walked out with the most beautiful dress. When they got in the car the volcano erupted.
